On Monday, June 21st, 2010, Rexton Elementary School will host a Literacy Night Event from 6:15-7:30 pm. This year, it is our intention to combine our annual Author’s Alley (which show cases our young student writers) while encouraging summer reading. In order to celebrate the first official day of summer and Aboriginal Day, this event will allow parents and other community members to tour exhibits produced by each class, based on a theme or author they have been reading about.These range from Butterflies and Frogs, Robert Munsch and Eric Carle to Dinosaurs, Plants and Egypt, to name a few.

RES will be holding its last PSSC meeting for the 2009-2010 school year on Monday, June 7th beginning at 3:30 p.m. All parents and community members are welcome to attend this meeting. Any parent/community member wishing to participate in the discussions at this PSSC meeting will need to request to have their topic added to our Agenda before 12 p.m. on Monday, June 7th; all requests must be within the PSSC’s responsibilities. The week of May 30th to June 5th has been declared Disability Awareness Week by the Premier's Council on the Status of Disabled Persons. District 16 schools are participating. The theme is "Yes We Can" and the aim is to promote support for persons with disabilities in New Brunswick. Disability Awareness prizes are being presented at district elementary schools and a "Walk and Roll" event is being encouraged at each school for Friday June 4th and this will involve 15 minutes of sustained walking or rolling to coincide with a province-wide Walk and Roll Challenge.

Your child will be bringing home a copy of our Survey on Thursday, May 13th AND we ask that all surveys be completed and returned to the school by Wednesday, May 18th. Would you like a photo keepsake of your child's 2009-2010 school year? Why not consider placing an order for a copy of RES' 2010 Yearbook? The deadline for ordering your 2010 RES Yearbook is Friday, April 30th. Each RES Yearbook costs $16 but our grade 5 students only have to pay $6 for their yearbook because RES' Home & School Association has offered to pay the remaining $10!

RES' annual Family Math Night will be held this Thursday, April 29th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in our school cafeteria.   FYI: The class with the greatest participation of parents/students will be entitled to win a new board game (that focuses on numeracy) AND an ice-cream party for their class!! Don't miss this special numeracy event!!

We are pleased to announce that as a result of last week's District 16 administrative interviews, Mrs. Virginia (Ginny) Richard was successful in attaining the Vice-Principal position at Rexton Elementary School. Congratulations to Mrs. Richard and US!!

Rexton Elementary's Home & School Association will be holding a general meeting on Wednesday, April 28th. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Items on the agenda include: a) budget issues, and b) planning for the 2010 Grade 5 Farewell Celebration. All RES parents are encouraged and invited to attend this very important meeting!
