RES' 2010 FIRST DAY OF SUMMER LITERACY NIGHT!!

Posted: June 18, 2010

On Monday, June 21st, 2010, Rexton Elementary School will host a Literacy Night Event from 6:15-7:30 pm. This year, it is our intention to combine our annual Author’s Alley (which show cases our young student writers) while encouraging summer reading. In order to celebrate the first official day of summer and Aboriginal Day, this event will allow parents and other community members to tour exhibits produced by each class, based on a theme or author they have been reading about. These range from Butterflies and Frogs, Robert Munsch and Eric Carle to Dinosaurs, Plants and Egypt, to name a few. After the exhibits, our students and their families are then invited to bring their beach towels and camp out in the gym as they listen to a few guest readers. This will be followed by a short but important message encouraging summer reading in which each Rexton Elementary student will receive a surprise grab bag with a “gentle loved” book inside. For those who are not able to attend, your child’s grab bag will be sent home the next day at school. The night will end with a tasty, frozen treat and the promise of a wonderful and relaxing vacation for all! We hope that everyone will be able to join us!
