On Thursday, June 20th RES' Perfect Attendance students (and their teachers) were treated to a pizza and ice-cream party ~ congratulations to Logan, Kaylah, Danielle, Kalan, Amon, Lex, and Savannah!
The first day of school for students for the 2013-2014 school year is Tuesday, September 3rd. PLEASE NOTE: we will be doing a staggered entry for our new Kindergarten students (parents of our new Kindergarten students should have received a letter from the school indicating what day their child begins school ... call the school if you need further information).
Here's hoping that all of our students, their families, and our staff members have a safe and happy summer vacation!
Please note that our Grade 3 French Immersion and Grade 3-4 students have the same school supply list. Students in RES' Grade 4 non-Immersion and Grade 4 French Immersion programs have a different school supply list (see attachments for details).
On Friday, June 21st, 2013 Rexton Elementary students participated in our first ever Wizard's Chess Game. Wizard Patrick Knockwood's army competed against Wizard Cody Halas Moulton's army. The students were dressed in costumes to reflect their individual pieces and the school's basketball court was transformed into a gigantic chess board. After only 25 minutes of play, Wizard Cody's team were able to achieve "check-mate"!
If you purchased a 2012-2013 Rexton Elementary School Yearbook we have great news: they have arrived!! Please stop by the school any day next week (Monday, June 24th-Friday, June 28th) between the hours of 9:00-12:00 or 1:00-3:00 p.m. to claim your yearbook!

On Tuesday, June 18th, Rexton Elementary School hosted its very first powwow! RES' FN Literacy Lead, Melissa Dedam, prepared our students for this grand event by doing presentations in each classroom in the weeks leading up to our powwow. This community-building event promises to become an annual event at Rexton Elementary School!
Keeping yourself safe while being active. Here are some great safety tips for when you being physically active. 1. Wear proper footwear like sneakers when running or playing sports2. If you are going to be outdoors, remember to apply sunscreen to prevent sunburn3. Bring a water bottle to keep hydrated and prevent overheating4. If you are biking, rollerblading, skateboarding, etc., be sure to wear your helmet.This is the final week of the Go for 42 Challenge. Be active and strive to accumulate 40 kms. Be sure to register for the Mango Kids Fun Run which will be on Sunday, June 23rd at 10:30.
Linda Haywood is the recipient of the 2013 provincial Home & School Bus Driver of the Year award. The students and staff of Rexton Elementary celebrated this grand announcement with Linda at our May 30th Sparkling Starfish Assembly. Congratulations Linda!
