Dear Rexton Elementary School Friends,
As many of you may know we have had a confirmed positive COVID-19 case in our school. The following information is meant to support you as you plan your child's safe return to school.
We take this opportunity to remind you that children and young people look to the adults in their lives to guide them on how to react to worrying and stressful events. Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about any anxieties and remind them to treat one another with kindness and respect, in person and on social media.
- Your child has been identified as a close contact of someone who tested positive at school.
- The last date they may have had contact with the virus was on November 15th, 2021.
- Rapid point of care testing (POCT) will get your child back in school faster. Watch a sample rapid POCT video at: www.gnb.ca/pointofcaretesting. (Rapid test product may differ.)
- Individuals who have already had COVID-19 and have completed their isolation period will continue to test positive even though they are no longer infectious. These individuals are not required to test or isolate for 90 days after the date of their positive test if they provide proof of having a positive PCR COVID-19 test result.
· Public Health will NOT be contacting you by phone. These are the steps you or your child must take based on their vaccination status.
